Plans got underway in 2020 for the fit out of a new block of classrooms at Long Bay Primary School. A bright, fresh new look was needed inside the classrooms to match the architecture and design of the new building. Having supported Long Bay Primary with their furniture needs for the past five years, EF Auckland Account Manager, Graham Lyons, was contacted to assist with the school with its latest project.
The Planning Process
Principal Linda Barton (since retired) and Property Manager John Underwood met with Graham directly to discuss their requirements and identify what they wanted to achieve with the fit out. A fresh new look was needed, however due to budget constraints the new furniture would have to complement existing items that the school already owned.
Classroom Furniture Solutions
The necessity for lots of tidy storage in the classrooms was the first item of discussion. Whiteboard cabinets were identified as an excellent solution, not only because they could provide tidy, usable storage space, but would also create a collaborative work space in each room.
Secondly, the trio identified which of the school’s existing furniture would move into the new block and therefore what additional items were needed. With his extensive knowledge of the EF educational furniture range, Graham provided a list of products, specifications and colour co-ordinates that would best meet the school's requirements. This included the supply of makerspace tables and furniture for breakout rooms.
Educational Furniture Supplied
Ultimately the fit out included the supply of the following items:
- Whiteboard Cabinets for storage
- Teacher Work PodiumsTote Tray Storage Unit
- Double Sided Book Display units
- Cube Box Storage Units
- Tall Tables with Pepper Stools
- EN One Chairs
- Horseshoe Tables with MLE stools and;
- Custom-made cupboards, and shelves.
The Final Product
Graham not only assisted the school with the planning and design of the spaces but also with the installation of the new furniture. The new rooms were clean, bright and inspiring spaces and the school was very satisfied with the final product.
