Huapai District School Principal John Petrie contacted Educated Furniture in 2019 to do a full review of the school’s furniture needs. Initially this involved a site visit to view all the classrooms and determine which areas were most in need of new furniture.
Planning the School Furniture Fit-Out
Upon recommendation from Graham Lyons our Auckland Account Manager, several classrooms were selected for a furniture upgrade. This also included a modern learning environment (MLE). The MLE had been built one to two years ago but was using older existing furniture and was not being utilised to its full potential.
The teachers of all the selected classrooms were consulted to determine the most pressing furniture requirements within their learning spaces. This primarily consisted of storage units and new seating.
School Furniture Supplied
For the MLE Educated Furniture provided a mixture of the following of:
- Tall Tables
- Rectangle Classroom Tables and
- Horseshoe Tables
These were paired with a mixture of seating options including
- MLE Stools
- Rainbow Chairs
- Titan Chairs and
- Fritters.
Storage Solutions
To address the lack of storage in the classroom we provided:
- Tote Tray Units
- Mobile Tote Tray Trolleys and
- Cubby Holes for the teachers and the students.
The biggest challenge with the fit out was working with the lack of storage in the MLE space. There was no existing built in storage in the room so Graham needed to work closely with the school to identify the most appropriate storage options we had available that was be best utilised in the space.
The Final Product
John and his team were thrilled with the areas that we transformed. They are thoroughly enjoying having the new furniture and lots more storage space in the classrooms.
